When It's a We: Using consensus process for political activism
How can we save the world? This workshop will address using the process of consensus for the purpose of working together to address and promote sustainability, including how a group of local residents prevented the siting of a nuclear power plant on the Cowlitz River, some of the essentials of community organizing, as well as using the process of consensus with children. Vision for Sustainability: Past, Present, and Future The Past will include readings from my memoir of living without water and electricity for 8 years, as well as my experiences with the back to the land movement in the early seventies and a few tales from the Matrix coffeehouse. The Present will involve dialog about how to deal with the enormity of what is happening now, and the Future will include group brainstorming, sharing our visualizations for the future and then working backwards identifying the steps it would take to get there. |
